Our experience has taught us that you need to integrate the translation and editing phase into the publishing phase, as hyphenation, punctuation and line breaks require knowledge of the target language. Since the number of words in foreign languages tend to be greater than the original English text, more space is required for the piece being created. For this reason, it’s important that competent desktop publishers work in tandem with the translators to maintain the integrity of the original design in spite of the increased word count and the accommodation of cultural tastes.
